The man who led the success of India’s first inter-planetary mission, Mangalyaan (Mars Orbiter Mission), Dr. Koppillil Radhakrishnan (born 29 August 1949) is a Space Scientist par excellence. He is the chairman of Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, having taken the position in December 2014. He previously served as the chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) between 2009 and 2014. He is a life fellow of the Indian Geophysical Union. Dr. Radhakrishnan, is a Technocrat par excellence and an inspiring Leader with a rare skill of nurturing leadership in the younger generation. He had commendably held the post of Director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, the lead centre for launch vehicle technology in ISRO and Director, National Remote Sensing Agency. In his brief stint (2000-2005) in the Ministry of Earth Sciences, he had also been the Founder Director of Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS).
Dr Radhakrishnan did his PGDM from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (1976) and obtained Doctorate for his thesis titled from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur
